Sports and Kinesiology Taping in Castlewellan, County Down
Sports and Kinesiology Taping in Castlewellan, County Down
Taping is one of the tools used at Better Days Physiotherapy to support joints, reduce pain, and help patients stay active during their recovery. It is applied by Declan as part of a broader treatment plan — not as a standalone fix, but as a useful adjunct when your assessment suggests it would help.
When taping may be useful
Taping may be useful for a range of conditions, including:
Ankle sprains during the return-to-sport phase
Knee pain — particularly patellofemoral pain and runner's knee
Shoulder instability or pain, particularly with overhead movement
Wrist and thumb injuries in sports involving grip or catching
Muscle strains where support during activity is needed
Postural correction as part of a rehabilitation programme
Types of taping used
Declan uses both rigid sports taping and kinesiology tape (Kinesio tape), depending on what your injury and recovery stage call for.
Rigid sports tape provides firm, structural support — useful when an area needs to be protected or stabilised during activity. Kinesiology tape is flexible, breathable, and can be worn for several days — it is used more commonly for pain management, proprioception, and lymphatic drainage.
The choice between them depends on your assessment, not on preference.
Applied by a registered physiotherapist
Taping is applied as part of your physiotherapy session. Declan will show you how the tape is being applied and explain what it is doing, so you understand the rationale and can manage it between sessions. Declan is HCPC registered and a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
Pricing
Taping is included as part of your physiotherapy session — no separate fee.
Assessment or review: £45 (45 minutes)
