Pilates-Based Rehabilitation in Castlewellan, County Down
Pilates-Based Rehabilitation in Castlewellan, County Down
Pilates-based rehabilitation is different from a general Pilates class. At Better Days, it means using Pilates principles — controlled movement, core stability, breath, and body awareness — as a structured, clinical tool for recovery and injury prevention. It is grounded in your individual assessment, not a generic programme.
Who it is for
Pilates-based rehab works well for people who:
Are recovering from a back or spine injury and need a progressive, structured way back to full movement
Have been told their core is weak but are not sure what to do about it
Want to rehabilitate after surgery, particularly abdominal, hip, or spinal procedures
Have recurring injuries that seem to come back every time they return to activity
Are managing chronic pain and want a movement-based approach that is gentle but progressive
How it works at Better Days
Rather than placing you in a group class, Declan integrates Pilates-based exercises into your individual physiotherapy programme. Every exercise is selected based on your assessment — what your body specifically needs to work on — rather than a standard sequence. As your strength and control improve, the programme progresses to match.
This is rehabilitation first, Pilates methodology second.
What sessions look like
Sessions are 45 minutes and take place in Castlewellan during evening hours. You do not need any previous Pilates experience. You do not need special clothing or equipment. Declan will guide you through each movement and explain exactly why you are doing it and what it should feel like.
